Sexual abuse is a grave wrong that can never be tolerated. It is also a crime that must be
reported, investigated and responded to so that victims are protected and those who commit
abuse are removed from ministry.
An independent, toll-free number has been established by the Diocese of Camden to help
callers report cases of sexual abuse by priest, religious, employees and/or volunteers.
Calls are handled by a licensed clinical social worker. In accord with state law, cases of child
sexual abuse are reported to the N.J. Division of Youth and Family Services and law
enforcement.
For information or to inquire about counseling and support services, call 1-800-964-6588.
A weekly support group for victims of clergy sexual abuse meets each Monday from 7-8:30pm in Haddonfield. The support group is facilitated by an independent, licensed clinical social
worker who has many years of professional experience helping those who have been
sexually abused. The meetings are only open to victims of sexual abuse by clergy of the diocese
and are strictly confidential. Victims who wish to attend the sessions should contact the
diocese’s Victims’ Assistance Coordinator, Barbara Gondek, at 856-524-4552.
DIVORCE CARE AND
DIVORCE CARE FOR KIDS
The Diocese of Camden is offering a support program for divorced Catholics and their children. These are Christian based programs that help you and your family deal with the trauma of divorce. The adult session consists of support videos and group discussion. For children, the program offers insight and activities to help explain what is happening to them and how to deal with the changes in their life.
These programs are available to anyone who is divorced or separated and for children 5-12 dealing with the divorce of their parents. Sessions will be held at St. Edward School, Pine Hill, 7-9PM on Wednesday nights starting Sept. 20th. Both sessions run concurrently. All are welcome and can start the program at any time.
