COURAGE

COURAGE is an international mutual support group for Catholic men and women with same-sex orientation, who wish to live by the Roman Catholic Church's teachings on homosexuality.

COURAGE is the only ministry for homosexuals approved by the Vatican and officially sponsored by the Church. Other groups exist which do not accept the moral teachings of the Church concerning homosexuality

COURAGE has five goals:

  1. To live chaste lives in accordance with the Roman Catholic Church's teachings on homosexuality.
  2. To dedicate their entire lives to Christ through service to others, spiritual reading, prayer, meditation, individual spiritual direction, frequent attendance at Mass, and the frequent reception of the Sacraments of Penance and the Holy Eucharist.
  3. To foster a spirit of fellowship in which we may share with one another our thoughts and experiences and so ensure that none of us have to face the problems of homosexuality alone.
  4. To be mindful of the truth that chaste friendships are not only possible but necessary in celibate Christian life and to encourage one another in forming and sustaining them.
  5. To live lives that may serve as good examples to others.

COURAGE meetings are oriented around the 12-step program, as adjusted to fit homosexual addiction.

The Diocese of Camden sponsors a COURAGE group that meets twice a month.

The Diocese also sponsors ENCOURAGE, an ancillary mutual support group for families of those in the "Gay" lifestyle.

All dealings with COURAGE and ENCOURAGE are strictly confidential.

If you wish more information, please call the COURAGE telephone line at 856-365-1570 and the facilitator will return your call.
