                 I am overjoyed by the smashing success of our annual Parish Fall Festival which was held last Saturday!  While we did not take an official count, we know that there had to beover 1000 people who attended.  800 hosts were prepared for the Mass in the Prayer Garden, and all but about 20 were distributed.  Given the large number of pre-First Communion children present, we easily reached and perhaps even surpassed the 1000-person attendance mark, and isn’t that just wonderful?

   What a thrill it is to celebrate Mass in such a beautiful setting!  And what a great social time it was that followed!  Everyone seemed to be having a really good time.  I know I did!  The barbecue dinner that was served to over 500 people was absolutely delicious, but many brought their own food and drinks and shared them generously with others.  The activities for the children were so much fun for them that I’m sure many parents had a hard time getting them to bed that night!  (Sorry about that, moms and dads!)  Our 2 youth DJ’s seemed to be having as much fun as everyone else!   It was great to give them a little head start on what may be for them a career, or at least a side-job.  The Mr. Softee line was too long for me, though, so I didn’t get my chocolate-vanilla twist cone this year.  L

There were some pretty impressive Baskets of Cheer that were raffled off, and I’d like to thank all the parish ministries and groups that donated and assembled them.  Congratulations to the winners of the baskets, and also the winners of our Jackpot Drawing:  the Grand Prize was $10,800.00, with 5 consolation prizes of $504.00 each. 

What I like most about the Festival is the way it brings us together as the family of God.  To pray and play together here in this beautiful setting is to catch a glimpse of Paradise!  Because of its growing popularity, however, (this was the largest Festival ever, after last’s years, which had been the largest until this year) we will need to do a little more organizing for the next one.  I think we need to come up with a system of table reservation, but we also need to add more tables and chairs.  We’ll also need to add a few more speakers, as it was difficult to hear some of the announcements that were being made.  Any other suggestions you may have are indeed welcome!

I want to thank everyone who helped organize, set-up and break-down the festival, along with those who organized the children’s activities, raffles and jackpot drawing, and the outdoor Mass.  If you missed it this year, be sure to try to attend next year!
